We are an all-foster volunteer rescue organization of Bull Terrier lovers dedicated to rescuing Bull Terriers in crisis and finding them permanent homes. Bull Terrier Rescue of the Sunshine State is a new rescue as of August 2015, but we are old hands at rescuing Bull Terriers. Our volunteers have all played key roles at other Bull Terrier rescues and decided it was time to begin our own.

Our goal is simple - save as many Bull Terriers as we can. Many of you know us already. We look forward to meeting those who don't. We don't relish the spotlight. It's the dogs that deserve to be front and center. Bull Terrier Rescue of the Sunshine State will put the bullies first.

We don't care how hard it is or how hopeless it may seem. We will not shy away from rescuing older bullies. We will not turn our backs on sick or injured bullies. It's the right thing to do.

Our success will ultimately depend on you. We will need fosters. We will need home checks and help with transport. We will need to fundraise to pay for dog food and vet bills. Lastly, we will need adopters.  We can do this together. We need to do this together. These dogs deserve better. People have failed them. We will not.

President & Treasurer

I am a retired pro bodybuilder, personal trainer and dietician, with a love for bullies for over 25 years. I have devoted my time and home to their survival. After volunteering for another rescue group, I have decided to start my own rescue group with a great group of people who share the same passion and dedication as I do.

Secretary & Rescue Transport Coordinator

Aside from being a Teacher for 18 years, saving Bull Terrier's is an absolute passion of mine and am inspired as I walk along side these amazing folks to achieve the same goal. I've been all over Florida actively saving Bull Terrier's for years and will continue to do so! My husband and I have had five amazing Bull Terrier furkids of our own over the past fourteen years who we cherish and laugh each day because of.  One of my biggest self-proclaimed phrases "rescue takes us all!"- If you know me, you know I live & breathe this. Rescue is only successful with others who actively lend a hand to save lives. Do you want to help safe a life?  Please message us!                 #RescueTakesUsAll

I am a dental hygienist & my husband Steven is a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps serving 3 combat tours overseas. We live in Orlando, FL with our 5 year old bull terrier Titan who is our son & the light of our lives. Because of him we have completely fallen in love with the breed & strive to help every bull terrier in need that comes in our path. We enjoy fostering, transporting & fund raising and and just honored to be a part of a team to help these amazing dogs!

I am thrilled to have this opportunity to pursue and share my passion with a great group of like-minded individuals! I first became attracted to the breed when I saw Rufus win Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show in 2006. I fell in love with his jaunty walk and happy smiling face. A few months later, I decided to rescue a white bull terrier who I named Kaya. She became my heart dog, the love of my life, and if I loved the breed before, I became even more enamored the more time I spent with her. She has since gone to the rainbow bridge, but since then, I have been blessed with 3 more bullies: Kokomo, a deaf brave bipawd osteosarcoma warrior, Candy and Linus (all rescues/foster failures). Having bullies has enriched my life in so many ways, and I could never imagine being without one. It is my deepest wish that every unwanted, abandoned, abused dog get a second chance in life, and that every person experience the love and bond that I shared with my heart dog.

My husband and I have 4 four-legged children:  Maya is our Princess, Queen, and Master of our home.  Maya is a 12-year-old bull terrier.  Mr. Randell, (10-11) year old bull terrier who is a foster failure from The Bull Terrier Rescue of the Sunshine State and is such a love.  Mr. Maximus Aurelius Diaz is our 5-year-old mini schnauzer and of course there is Molly Brown, a young spit fire who came into our lives just shortly after losing our 10-year-old mini schnauzer Maggie.  We absolutely adore our children and our lives would not be complete without them.   We are so thankful to have met Denise and Carla.  The things they do for the dogs is incredible and something we admire.  We are proud to be a part of their great organization and we hope to continue to lend a hand, home, and love for the bullies!

My name is Amanda.  My husband, Jim, and I have been involved in animal rescue since 2011.  We are very passionate about getting animals out of shelters and into qualified, loving homes.  We are huge believers in the importance of spaying and neutering in order to control the ongoing overcrowding in our shelters.  We are definite “dog people” but our hearts belong to bullie breeds.  Working with and adopting from BTRSS has been an absolute pleasure!  This is a wonderful group of people dedicated to improving the lives of animals.  We are so proud to be able to work with them.  Adopt don’t shop!

We are proud to call Pet Calls our home veterinary clinic/hospital.  The staff are truly wonderful from the receptionists to the vet techs, and of course, the veterinarians.  They are well-versed, trained and experienced in dealing with the special medical and behavioral needs of our beloved bull terriers - perhaps one of the most experienced vets for bull terriers in South Florida!  They show their continued support by providing discount rescue rates and also donating to our fundraising events.  Some of their vet techs have even fostered for us!  Thank you Pet Calls!
